Process Introduction
The Honoring Our Past - Creating Our Future (HOPCOF) experience brings the entire spiritual community together to tell their story, and to begin to see the ways they have created identity, continuity, meaning, and purpose as the context from which they orient themselves to present circumstances and future possibilities. HOPCOF supports them in becoming aware of how their story might be compelling, limiting, diminishing, wounding, fragmenting, and/or freeing. By understanding their story as the rich framework for their life orientation, the community discovers that they are greater than their story. They can indeed create a newer and better story together.
The HOPCOF experience supports all ministries -- whether thriving or in creative tension. Through examining our stories participants discover their ministry’s persona (ways they are proud to be seen) and their shadow (ways in which they have fallen short). It supports us as a community to better understand ourselves, to reconcile our shadow with our persona, to heal unresolved wounds of the past, and to develop an intentional strategic plan for moving forward.
While primarily focusing on the story of a spiritual community, the HOPCOF process also places participants in relationship to their own personal narrative. Participants are empowered to step into more conscious alignment with their vision, and to take practical steps to build an authentic and intentional spiritual community.
